I'm ashamed.

I didn't post about the tsunami last year, or this year. Over 230 thousand people dead in one day five years ago and I...forgot.

Silence.

Yes, but if you focused on all the horrible things that ever happened you would never get to enjoy your life, the year would be nothing but a calendar of woe.

I don't know. I didn't post about Katrina or the Tsunami in 2009, but I thought about both of them. I suppose, all things considered, it would have been good to link to stories updating us on the situation there. But...well. I don't know.

So much of US attention to disasters ends up feeling exploitative. I know that wasn't the concern here. But sometimes I think, are my commemorative posts marking the right things? Or just signifying that I'm A Good Person?

I hate feeling tainted by CNN.
